Goals completed

11. Register with a GP – I filled in the forms at the end of November, but I think the registration was only processed at the beginning of December, so I’m saying this is a December achievement.

64. Buy work trousers that actually fit – I did some shopping in the January sales

69. Get another piercing in each ear – Done on 8.1.16

92. Investigate trampoline lessons – I’d completely forgotten this was on my list but, coincidentally, I did an exercise lesson on a trampoline on 29.1.16. It turns out trampolining is much harder than it looks.

Goals in progress

19. Stop procrastinating: Don’t stop to listen to music until I’ve done everything I need for the evening (200/396) – It looks as if, at the moment, I’ve achieved this more often than not.

72. Donate 1,000,000 grains at http://freerice.com (398,000 / 1,000,000) – 64,000 grains donated in December and January.

83. Keep a personal diary for at least a year and

84. Write something good that happened in personal diary, at least one a week for a year

– I started these, again, on 1 January. I think I got as far as May last year, so we’ll see how long this attempt lasts.

93. Read 100 books by authors I haven’t read (13/100) – 29.12.16: Finished The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

Mission 101 - November 2015 update

A short update for November.

Goals completed

22. Put earrings onto earring holder – This was trickier than it first appeared, because a lot of my earrings are missing their butterflies. So I put most of them onto the holder (and I don’t really like the others anyway).

Goals in progress

72. Donate 1,000,000 grains at http://freerice.com (334,000 / 1,000,000) – Donated 22,000 grains in November.

93. Read 100 books by authors I haven’t read (12/100) – 3.11.15: Finished The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

14. Buy a pedometer – Done on 28.8.15. Even better, I didn’t actually buy it. There was a walking challenge at work in August and September and the participants were given pedometers. I thought we’d have to give them back but that’s not happened yet, so I assume we’re keeping them.

15. Find out how many steps per day I walk, on average – Completed on 8 October, it’s 12,476. As it was part of a competition, the number is probably higher than it would otherwise be but it’s close enough.

16. Walk 10,000 steps per day for a month – Done between 6.9.15 and 8.10.15

28. Change my postal address with all service providers – Done in September 2015

Goals in progress

29. Scrapbook old photos and greetings cards – Started in October and I’ve actually got into scrapbooking and crafting in a big way. I’ve changed my mind about the photos, though, I’m not sure what I’m going to do with them, but I don’t think I want to scrapbook them as such.

72. Donate 1,000,000 grains at http://freerice.com (312,000 / 1,000,000) – Only 4,000 grains donated in September, but 31,000 grains donated in October.

93. Read 100 books by authors I haven’t read (11/100)

12.10.15 – Finished The Lie by C.L. Taylor

17.10.15 – Finished The Versions of Us by Laura Barnett

Somehow I managed to forget my July update, so I’m combining it with my August one.

Goals completed

34. Organise all files on external hard drive and new laptop, from old computer and Mum’s computer – Done in July 2015. This does exclude anything to do with my photos (as that’s a separate goal) but they are at least in logically placed files.

37. Either get a promotion (and pay rise) at my current job, or find a new job – I got a promotion! I was told about it at the end of July and it came into effect at the beginning of August. The pay rise is tiny but never mind.

This does mean the next two goals on my list (Check on company’s Intranet weekly to find out there are any jobs available suitable for me and Sign up to job websites to find out what’s out there) are now obsolete, so I think I’ll replace them.

44. Tidy my desk – My team moved to hotdesking in August so it wasn’t a question of tidying, so much as throwing things away. Either way, it’s done.

56. Buy a new digital camera – Done on 7.8.15

Goals in progress

72. Donate 1,000,000 grains at http://freerice.com (277,000 / 1,000,000) – 65,000 grains donated in July and August.

86. Make 1,001 LJ icons and post them to the relevant LJ communities (90/1001) – I made 50 Frozen icons and 40 Tangled icons.

93. Read 100 books by authors I haven’t read

3.7.15: Finished Always the Bridesmaid by Lindsey Kelk. This is chick lit, which I was hoping to avoid, but I’ve already said no YA or TV novelisations and there are only so many restrictions I can deal with.

25.7.15: Finished A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

Mission 101 - June 2015 update

Goals completed:

12. Go to the dentist – Done on 15.6.15. As an added bonus, I also went to the hygienist. I thought this’d be a simple goal (my fear of dentists aside) but it turned out to be more of a hassle than I was expecting. On my first attempt, my appointment was cancelled without telling me. When I phoned to complain, the receptionist basically told me to go somewhere else. So I did. On the plus side, I much prefer the new dentist.

Goals in progress:

72. Donate 1,000,000 grains at
http://freerice.com (212,000 / 1,000,000) – 42,000 grains donated in June

93. Read 100 books by authors I haven’t read

8.6.15: Finished Elizabeth is Missing by Emma Healey

94. Watch 26 movies I’ve never seen starting with each letter of the alphabet

7.6.15: What Maisie Knew (W)

Misson 101 - May 2015 update

A rather short update this time.

Goals completed:

10. Vote in the next General Election – I exercised my democratic right to vote on 7.5.15.

67. Buy new trainers – Done on 25.5.15. They look sturdier than the previous ones but I don’t know if they’re waterproof as it hasn’t really rained since then. I can’t keep buying trainers, though, so I’m saying this one’s done.

Goals in progress:

72. Donate 1,000,000 grains at http://freerice.com (170,000 / 1,000,000) – 50,000 grains donated in May.

73. Perform at least 20 random acts of kindness (2/20) – I bought a colleague some chocolates to celebrate her first year at our company.

94. Watch 26 movies I’ve never seen starting with each letter of the alphabet

3.5.15: The Lovely Bones (L)

17.5.15: Silver Linings Playbook (S)

24.5.15: Into the Woods (I)

Mission 101 – April 2015 update

Goals completed:

9. Find out if I’m registered to vote – I am.

27. Get rid of the old DVDs and CDs at my mum’s house and sell them on Music Magpie – The cheque finally turned up, so this one is now complete.

Goals in progress:

8. Eat breakfast every day (82/151). Although I think I’m being very generous with my definition of “breakfast”. I suspect most people wouldn’t count breakfast biscuits eaten at 11:00am.

20. Read all of my unread books (1/45) – 12.4.15: Finished Game of Thrones by George RR Martin. I loved it.

46. Spend 10 minutes at the end of each day planning for the next day (48/92)

72. Donate 1,000,000 grains of rice at http://freerice.com (120,000 / 1,000,000) – 13,000 grains donated in April. Again, I didn’t donate as much as I’d have liked as I didn’t have internet for two weeks.

93. Read 100 books by authors I haven’t read (6/45):

6.4.15: Finished Look Who’s Back by Timur Vermes

12.4.15: Finished Game of Thrones by George RR Martin

94. Watch 26 movies I’ve never seen starting with each letter of the alphabet

12.4.15: Cinderella (2015 remake) (C)

16.4.15: Pitch Perfect (P)

Mission 101 - March 2015 update

Goals completed:

All goals involving clearing stuff out of my mum’s house had to be completed in March, as she (and I) moved house at the beginning of April:

23. Get rid of clothes I haven’t worn in the last year
24. Clear out wardrobe at my mum’s house
25. Clear out chest at my mum’s house
26. Get rid of books I’ve already read and don’t intend to reread at my mum’s house

It feels a bit like cheating to have these as four separate goals, so I may combine them into one.

Goals in progress:

27. Get rid of the old DVDs and CDs at my mum’s house and sell them on Music Magpie – I’ve sent them to Music Magpie but the cheque hasn’t turned up yet.

72. Donate 1,000,000 grains at http://freerice.com (107,000/1,000,000) – 18,000 grains donated in March. I was aiming to donate an average of 1,000 grains a day but I suddenly kept getting messages telling me the banner ads were blocked. As the ads pay for the rice, playing on freerice.com seemed pretty pointless until I could unblock them. After spending ages pointlessly fiddling with my security settings, I eventually figured out that logging on via Facebook goes some way to solving the problem.

93. Read 100 books by authors I haven’t read (4/100)
14.3.15: Finished How to be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
